The representative communities of typical steppe are Stipa grandis community and Leymus chinensis community. We investigated these two kinds of community characteristics, community spectral characteristics in June, July and August 2015. The following results were obtained:(1)The spectral reflectance of visible band and near infrared band of Stipa grandis community and Leymus chinensis community in June is significantly higher than in July and August, this is because the low coverage of the community in June, community spectral reflectance is affected by the soil background, resulting in high reflectivity.(2) With compare of spectral characteristics of Leymus chinensis community of August in different treatments, we found out:enclosure communities have the minimum spectral reflectance, but for spectral parameters red edge position and red edge area of enclosure community are the highest, that means Leymus chinensis community grow best in the enclosed processing mode, so hyperspectral characteristic parameters can be used to monitor the growth of vegetation.(3) The studies of Stipa grandis community and Leymus chinensis community show that the water soil content of cutting community is higher than enclosure community and Leymus chinensis community is higher than Stipa grandis community. It is also found that the spectral reflectance of bare soil will decrease with the increase of soil water content.(4) Through correlation analysis, Hyperspectral Vegetation Index and spectral characteristic parameters can be used for grassland biomass estimation. And in this paper, compared to vegetation index of yield estimation model, hyperspectral characteristic parameters estimation model has a higher degree of fitting, and it is more suitable for the typical grassland yield estimation by remote sensing.
