Giant salamander (Andrias davidianus), which was commonly referred to as the giant salamander, was employed in this research to study the stocking mode by investigating the weight gain rate under the different stocking density and different temperature. Furthermore, the detection of testosterone and estradiol levels in the body and observation of embryonic development would help to provide basic information and certain theory for the scale, healthy, ecological, and high-effectiveness breeding of Giant salamander. The results were as follows:1. The breeding density of 8 to 10 tail/m2 for the five-year giant salamander,15 to 20 tail/m2 for the four-year old,25 to 30 tail/m2 for the three-year old, and 50 to 65 tail/m2 for two years old of giant salamander showed a higher weight gain rate, respectively. The two years old giant salamander has the highest weight gain rate and all obviously above 100%. The temperature of 17 to 21℃ was suitable for the growth of the giant salamander.2. The salamander’s bait preference that from young to adult were weather fish, shrimp and small fishes, grass carp, and silver carp respectively.3. The medicine test showed that Methylene blue has no obvious therapeutic effect for the giant salamander, while a certain concentration of Allicin, Chinese gall, and water mildew net could achieve the effect of cure after 5 or 6 days later.4. In this study, the hatching rate of four batches was 46%,38%,39%,38%, respectively. The quality of laying eggs, fertilization were the best when the concentration of Estradiol (E2) was in 90 pmol/L, and could also produced the highest seedling. In addition, when the Testosterone (T) value was in 280 pg/mL, the sperm of male salamanders was in the highest activity and produced the best seedling.5.The embryo development stage of the giant salamander could be divided into cleavage stage, blastula stage, gastrula stage, neural embryo stage, organ formation stage and the incubation stage.
