In recent years, the development of slow release fertilizer is a major trend. The research of the impact on soil and atmosphere, as well as the potential environmental effects by the slow release fertilizer of wood residue which is a kind of relatively ideal coated fertilizer should be accordingly done. In this essay, periodic measurements of Eucalyptus tree height, diameter, sample soil NPK content, research Eucalyptus forest growth, surface soil fertility and soil nutrient changes in horizontal and vertical diffusion characteristics after cast different wood residues slow release fertilizer by an outdoor forest fertilization test and a soil column fertilization test. The indoor simulation fertilization test regularly collect the volatile nitrogen-containing gas after cast different slow-release fertilizer for gaseous nitrogen volatilization study characteristics. This research could provide scientific support and reference value for subsequent use, at the same time predict soil environmental change, improve the performance of slow release fertilizer and raise the utilization ratio of nitrogen comparing with ordinary fertilization. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) The diameter and height of Eucalyptus were increased by time and grew rapidly in summer while slowly in winter and the broadleaf one promoted better.(2) After cast two kinds of slow release fertilizers, the release rate of NPK was delayed at the beginning. At the same time, the release content of nitrate (P<0.05) and available phosphorus (P<0.05) were significantly reduced while ineffective to ammonium and potassium.(3) In the soil column, compared with the normal fertilization, the soil ammonium has obvious vertical migration after cast two slow release fertilizer, the soil nitrate, available phosphorus and potassium have little vertical migration. In the Eucalyptus forest, the vertical leaching of nitrogen and phosphorus of broad-leaved shell fertilizer was exist except potassium, while the vertical leaching of NPK of coniferous shell fertilizer and ordinary fertilizer was not obvious.(4) After applied two kinds of shell’s fertilization, there were significant loss of NH3, while less loss of N2O and NOx whether in summer or winter. The nitrogen gas emission was small in the initial stage while bigger later. At the same time, the two slow release fertilizers could significantly (P<0.05) helps to reduce nitrogen volatilization in contrast to ordinary fertilization. In winter, two slow release fertilizers could significantly (P<0.05) helps to reduce nitrogen volatilization than in summer, and broadleaf fertilization was significantly (P<0.05) controlled the volatilization of N2O and NOx in contrast to needle one, but plant respiration had little relationship with nitrogen gas emission.
