The wind tunnel simulation test was experimented in Ningxia Zhongwei Shapotou wind tunnel laboratory in 2014.10,which belongs to Key Laboratory of desert and desertification, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. The experiment is based on the fact that transmission line tower base set in the desert area are vulnerable to windbreak and sand fixation. We set three kinds of sand barrier of different material types around the tower base respectively and analyse and compare wind erosion characteristics of tower base, in order to get better protection measures.l.The research study on the tower base wind erosion characteristics under the condition of no protective measure. Set the town base model at the sand bed without any sand barrier, select 6 m/s,9 m/s,12 m/s,15m/s 4 groups of wind velocity to blow, corresponding to 5min、3min、2min、1min. Place a sand meter along the main wind direction from the rear of the model lm, opening at the direction of the wind. Collect sand content under different wind speeds. When the wind stops, the sand sample layer is put into the sample bag weighing. Observe the effect of sediment deposition around the model, and analyze the current situation of wind erosion.2. Make wind tunnel simulation test of the tower base with three kinds of sand barrier, including straw checkerboard barrier, salix sand barrier, nylon net barrier. Grid specification is 10cm×10cm. select 6 m/s,9 m/s,12 m/s,3 groups of wind velocity to blow, corresponding to 5min、3min、2min.Place a sand meter along the main wind direction from the rear of the model lm, opening at the direction of the wind. Collect sand content under different wind speeds. When the wind stops, the sand sample layer is put into the sample bag weighing. Observe the effect of sediment deposition around the model, and analyze the current situation of wind erosion.3.We can draw a conclusion by analysing and comparing the wind erosion, accumulation characteristics and sediment transport capacity of the tower base with or without three kinds of sand barriers:The 10cm×10cm straw checkerboard barrier with the cubic tower base and the cylinder tower base has the smallest total area of wind erosion area and the largest total area of stable area and accumulation area. Considering the tower base protection should give priority to wind erosion, The 10cm x 10cm straw checkerboard barrier has the best effect of windbreak and sand fixation.4.We can conclude that we still cannot completely avoid the wind erosion by setting the sand barrier around the tower base through sediment experiment and related data of three kinds of sand barrier. So, we suggest to lay out integrated protection measures system, which means taking the chemical sand fixing measures around the bases within a radius of lm. According to the average safe distance around the tower base is 4m, lmxlm straw checkerboard barrier is suggested to be laid out around the tower base within a radius of 4m.
