Soil is the foundation of biological nutrient, and is an important carbon sinks and purification plant, which is the most basic resource of human survival. Analysis of the relationship between the soil and environment, soil spatial distribution, help to understand the development process of soil formation, but also to the stability of soil function and ascend. Qiangtang Plateau is located in the hinterland of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, where’s knowledge of soil and environment were lack of in-depth analysis, because the climate conditions, traffic inconvenience and less soil basic data. At the same time, the traditional soil map to soil type boundary absolute space, to cover up the cross and the transition between the soil types. In this paper, the traditional soil map of Qiangtang Plateau was used, and based on the theory of soil formation to screening the environmental factors what are closely related to soil formation, then using the decision tree mining See5.0 software coupling relationship between the soil and environmental factors. Construct the Soil-Landscape Model and Soil mapping in the cold and dry core region of Qiangtang Plateau by the SoLIM Solutions software with the method of Rule-based inference, analyzing the regional spatial distribution of soilMain conclusions were drawn as follows:(1)The coupling relationship of soil and environmental factors, the elevation, precipitation and topographic wetness index factors are the crucial factors influencing the formation of soil in the small areas, however the main factors in large-scale areas follow by elevation, parent material and climate, because where has the larger space differences of parent material and climate, the higher influence of factors on the distribution of soil. By comparison with different range found that altitude and precipitation are the dominant factors influencing the distribution of soil type, other factors varied between different regions.Several environmental factors influence the distribution of soil types together.(2)The characteristics of soil spatial distribution: The distribution of soil type has obvious vertical and horizontal zonal characteristics in the cold and dry core region of Qiangtang Plateau. The vertical zonal characteristics showing that different soil types distribute according to the elevation from high to low, horizontal zonal characteristics showing certain latitudinal zonality and distribute along the rivers and lakes. Topographic factors effectively reflect the spatial distribution of the soil type, The factors affect the development of the soil by changing its hydrothermal and vegetation conditions, which indirectly change the physicochemical properties of the soil.(3)Digital soil mapping, by the thorough analysis of the relationship between the soil and environmental, It showed that the soil map retrieved by the Soil-Landscape inference provided more detailed and accurate information in soil spatial distribution than that of the original soil map. SoLIM Solutions supports two types of soil mapping: rule-based mapping and sample-based mapping. Both of them are based on the idea that soil types and/or soil properties can be inferred from soil-related environmental conditions. Rule-based mapping uses an inference engine to link the GIS database with the knowledge base to calculate the similarity values. Sample-based mapping uses inference engine to link the GIS database with the field samples to estimate soil types.
