Leaf area index is a better dynamic performance that can reflect how big a crop group is.In the ecology, the leaf area index is an important ecosystem structure parameter which is used to reflect the number of the plant leaf,the change of the canopy structure,the energy of the plant community life and its environmental effects.Bell’s law is a widely used formula which measure the leaf area index,and in this paper,according to the analysis of applicability of the Bell’s law which determine leaf area index.Four dimension model also gives a method that measures the light background probability.So compare the Bell’s law with the four dimension model,Because it does not consider the spatial distribution of canopy in it,we can get that the Bell’s law can’t be suitable for the determination of porosity in the fixed pixels.In this paper,mainly research from the following several aspects and obtain the corresponding results.Through several distribution formulas and limited operation,it’s concluded when we have a infinite pixel,the Bell’s law and the four dimension model are approximate, and the Bell’s Law is only applied to measure the probability of one tree or infinite pixel.Clumping index is a variable that can reflect the relationship between the two adjacent individuals,it can reveal in part how the surrounding individual impact on their own.According to the overall clumping index,we can effectively determine the changes of the other variables.In this paper, the lower part is mainly to study the clumping index of bell’s law.Using the pore scale method and large flare elimination method of professor Chen Jingming,through the analogy for further innovation transformation,and based on the clumping index of leaf,we can get the clumping index of the crown.Application equations are carried out to verify the measured data,and it’s concluded that the clumping index does not change when the angle changes. And in the last,the whole clumping index of the pixel is given.Bell’s law is an important theoretical formula which measure the leaf area index and the light background probability,it plays an important role in forestry research.,but because of its limit of applicability,it can’t describe the complete meaning of porosity of the canopy structure.So it’s quite necessary for the analysis of the Bell’s law.For the parameters clumping index and the extinction coefficient,due to the calculating method of diversification,and these calculation formula directly affect the change of the Bell’s law,so the study of these parameters for the measuring of the leaf area index and the study of canopy photosynthesis efficiency between individuals,it has certain positive meanings.
