Systematic Study On Mythimna And Leucania (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) From Southwest China

The present paper dealt with systematic study on Mythimna and Leucania of Noctuidae, Lepidoptera from Southwest China (mainly from Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou Province and South of Tibet).The paper comprises three parts. In Part I. introduction, the taxonomic history and currant situation of studies, characteristics, biology and ecological habits were reviewed, and economic imporyance were introduced. In addition, the materials and methords were also briefly introduced. In Part Ⅱ. systematics,90 species of Mythimna and 14 species of Leucania were identified totally, including 21 new record species from China:Mythimna legraini (Plante, 1992), M. godavariensis (Yoshimoto,1992)、M. chiangmai Hreblay & Yoshimatsu,1998、 M. nainica (Moore,1881)、M. pastea (Hampson,1905)、M. kambaitiana Berio,1973、M. griseofasciata (Moore,1881)、M. thailandica Hreblay,1998, M. rudis (Moore,1888)、M. grata Hreblay,1996、M. rutilitincta Hreblay & Yoshimatsu,1996、M. moriutii Yoshimatsu & Hreblay,1996、M. speciosa (Yoshimatsu,1991)、M. laxa Hreblay & Yoshimatsu,1996、M. ignifera Hreblay,1998、M. siamensis Hreblay,1998、M. iodochra (Sugi,1982)、M. manopi Hreblay,1998、Leucania nigristriga Hreblay, Legrain & Yoshimatsu,1998、L. polysticha Turner,1902、L. ineana Snellen,1880; 6 new record species from mainland of China: Mythimna hannemanni (Yoshimatsu,1991)、M. taiwana (Wileman,1912)、M. intertexta (Chang,1991)、M. pulchra (Snellen, [1886])、M. epieixelus (Rothschild,1920)、Leucania celebensis (Tams,1935) and 7 new record species from Southwest of China:Mythimna albomarginata (Wileman & South,1920)、M. consanguis (Guenee,1852)、M. simplex (Leech,1889)、M. moorei (Swinhoe,1902)、M. formosana (Butler,1880)、Leucania curvilinea Hampson,1891、L. roseorufa (Joannis,1928); and 51 species were given the Chinese name for the first time,41 species’Chinese name were changed; Adult and genitalia characteristics of all the species mentioned in this paper were described in detail, with photos of all the adult and genitalia. Part III was conclusions and discussions.All the specimens examined were deposited in the Insect Collection of Northeast Forestry University, China.
