The paper is modified poplar by heat treatment and zinc oxide function together. The paper explores the possibility by hydrothermal method of Zinc Oxide generation on the surface of poplar wood on the condition of the similar temperation of heat-treated wood, researches the impact of different processes on growth and morphology of Zinc Oxide on the surface of poplar wood, determines better generation process of Zinc Oxide, though performance test such as mechanical properties, contact angle and dimension stability, determine the optimum of hydrothermal method after the twenty-day aging performance test on poplar test specimen. On the basis of previous experiment, generation experiment of Zinc Oxide uses heat-treated method utilizing the best process condition of hydrothermal method. It is comparative analysised about performance of poplar wood test specimen processed by two kinds of generation method thereout of Zinc Oxide processed on the suface poplar wood with heat-treated method. Paper main research content is as follows:(1) Under the condition of different process factors added as concentration of reaction solution, reaction time, reaction temperature and surface active agent, the paper researches growth and morphology of Zinc Oxide on the surface of poplar wood. The results show that the impact of concentration of reaction solution, reaction time, reaction temperature on Zinc Oxide morphology presents the similar tendency, all negative effects on Zinc Oxide generation caused by over top and excessive low process factors. The addtion of surface active agent is no good to promote or improve the formation of zinc oxide. XRD results showed that the characteristic diffraction peaks of ZnO do not appear.(2) It is analysis about mechanical properties, contact angle and dimension stability gotten from the condition of 170℃, different reaction time (3h,4h,5h,6h 7h,8h). The results show that mechanical property of wood decreased gradually, followed prolonging of treatment time. similar changes of contact angle and dimension stability have relations with the distribution and morphology of Zinc Oxide,and contact angle and dimension stability presents better status when Zinc Oxide is well-distributed.(3) Untreated poplar wood and used better generation process modified-wood to be prepared for 20 days UV accelerated aging test. The results show that color change occurred in both kind of surface, processed wood color change is less than the change of control. Compared with the material color, color change test materials decreased more than 70%. After aging, the mechanical properties of the tested materials were lower, Treated wood decline less than the untreated material, the processing time is 6h for the generation of ZnO surface timber bending strength and elastic modulus decreased 1.76% and 0.99%, respectively; wood processing time is 7h fell 3.39% bending strength, elastic modulus decreased 5.06%; decline were lower than 16.14 percent and 11.65 percent of control sample.(4) Generation experiment of Zinc Oxide uses heat-treated method utilizing the best process condition of hydrothermal method. FTER. and XRD results showed that zinc oxide of the characteristic functional groups and the diffraction peak. The results show that Heat treatment method generated ZnO on the wood surface bending strength decreasing rate is about 8.53%, down 11.57 percent from about wood heat treatment; hydrothermal method decline 15.9%, about modulus of elasticity, the heat-treated wood and the hydrothermal method is decreased to 13.78%and 23.78%, while generate ZnO on the wood surface using heat treatment method increased 8.57%. Dimensional stability after accelerated aging and color change is less man heat-treated wood and control sample.In summary, these two kinds of modification methods are achieve the formation of Zinc Oxide on the suface of poplar wood. After the modified wood aging performance is improvement and mechanical properties decrease. The mechanical properties of heat-treated method modified wood falls below hydrothermally modified wood. Application of the heat treatment method can simplify the wood/inorganic particle modification process, for the latter to explore the preparation Wood/ inorganic particles composite materials presented new research ideas and test methods.
