Greenhouse technology is a highly intensive agricultural production technology. Its core technology characteristic is monitoring the key environmental information of the greenhouse such as temperature and humidity, and after that some certain measures will be taken place to make corresponding adjustment to keep its environment variables always be in the best environmental conditions for plant growth. Compared with ordinary outdoor planting, Greenhouse technology can effectively improve the quality and production of agricultural products. In recent years, the State Council Executive Meeting is eager to accelerate the implementation of the call "Made in China 2025", and put precision agriculture which mainly includes the greenhouse technology on the top priority of the promoting of agricultural automation development. However, the traditional greenhouse monitoring system is usually cable connected, which means there will be a lot of wires existing in the green house. It is difficult, highly cost and inconvenient to make maintenance, and it’s high power consumption leads the further development of greenhouse technology to great restriction. Under these backgrounds and premises, and in order to improve the traditional greenhouse monitoring system, this paper designed an energy saving greenhouse environment monitoring system based on ZigBee.The main research contents of this paper are as followed:(1)Based on analysis of the demand for greenhouse monitoring system and the applicability of ZigBee technology, this paper put forward an system design scheme of an energy saving greenhouse environment monitoring system based on ZigBee technology.(2)The hardware of the greenhouse environment monitoring system is designed. The hardware includes the coordinator node and sensor node of two parts, the radio frequency chip CC2530 of TI company was chosen as the chip of radio frequency control module. Among them, the sensor node to collect the soil temperature and humidity, air temperature and humidity, light intensity and CO2 concentration of greenhouse, sensor module were established and the circuit was designed; In order to realize the energy saving, triode was used as energy-saving switch of circuit and the circuit of energy-saving was designed; In order to meet the demand of different modules, the power conversion chip was selected and the circuit of power supply was designed. The coordinator node to understand the situation of joined node,the liquid crystal display was selected and its peripheral circuit is designed.(3)The software of greenhouse environment monitoring system was designed. Z-Stack was chosen as a software development platform of system, the IAR Embeded Workbench was selected to act as a software development environment.The program of the working process, the control commandframe format, the display and PC communication were designed for the coordinator node. The program of the work process, the wireless data frame formatwere designed for sensor node. In order to complete the data collection, the sensor data acquisition program was designed; In order to realize the energy saving, the data acquisition strategy of energy-saving and the procedures for sensor nodes into sleep were designed.(4)The performance of the system was tested. After the designs above, a field test of the monitoring system was taken place in one of the greenhouses in our school. Data of a period of time was collected by the system to get the performance the system act when monitoring the greenhouse environment and conditions of the equipments. Then the energy saving effect of the system was tested by three different collection of data.Test results shows that the system’s energy saving effect is obvious, the highest energy saving rate can even reach 92.06%, and the system can effectively monitor the greenhouse environment and equipment condition.
