As an important source of nutrition in our daily life, safe, organic vegetables are becoming the protagonists in people’s dining table, especially in the modern time when people attach more importance on healthy diet. Meanwhile, the increasing demand of vegetables enhances the development of vegetable production industry by leaps and bounds. It brings about technological innovation in which the original small vegetable workshop is being replaced by intelligence, information technology and automation. In order to improve the quality and yield of vegetables, reduce labor costs, and liberate productive force, the monitoring and control on the growth environment of vegetables has become a more important part. Therefore, a set of greenhouse environmental information monitoring and early warning system was designed in the paper to improve and optimize the growth environment of vegetables for the improvement of vegetable growth and yield.SCM STC89C52 RC was used as the core control unit, combined with signal processing technology, wireless communication technology, sensor technology and intuitive operation of the PC interface. The system can save cost and energy consumption and is simple for operation; it also offers real-time monitor the detection environment and alert on abnormal condition and makes automatic adjustment. It’s indeed practical and worthwhile for promotion.The hardware and software design of the system was based on a large amount of information. Data acquisition about temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide concentration and light intensity in the greenhouse was conducted through corresponding sensors; the collected data was then transmitted through the wireless module and the host computer that can display the detection result and send out the warning signal and the control instruction. Through the precise regulation of the environment, the growth parameters were controlled to be the best growth conditions. A test on the system was conducted in a simulation environment before its practical application in which the system accuracy was calibrated after initial testing and debugging.The system was practically applied in the greenhouse filed in Shuangyang. According to the test results, the system had a good real-time monitoring of the environment. It made timely feedback and adjustment in abnormal situations so that the operators in the field were informed in time.In terms of software, the system designed in this paper is more accurate and quicker to respond and ensures the good application of warning function; as for hardware, it helps reduce production cost without affecting the quality. Though it is not perfect, it is worthwhile to be applied and promoted.
