Objective The research aims to investigate the relationship between preeclampsia and high conductance calcium-activated potassium channel β1subunit (KCNMβ1).Methods The levels of blood serum KCNMB β1subunit were measured by Elisa assay in all objects:normal pregnant women, pregnant women-with mild PE and with severe PE. The mRNA levels of KCNMB β1subunit in placenta tissue and uterine smooth muscle tissue of all objects were detected by means of the fluorescence quota PCR method. Results (1) Serum KCNMβ1levels of mild and severe preeclampsia group were significantly lower than that of normal pregnant women, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). But compared mild preeclampsia group with severe preeclampsia group, the difference was not found statistically significant (p>0.05).(2) The KCNMβ1mRNA expression level in placentas and uterine smooth muscle of mild preeclampsia group was0.24times and0.13times lower than that of the control group, the difference both were statistically significant (p<0.05, p<0.05). The KCNMβ1mRNA expression levels in placentas and uterine smooth muscle of severe preeclampsia group was0.5times and0.7times lower than that of the control group, both the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05, p<0.05). But compared mild preeclampsia group with severe preeclampsia group, there was no statistically difference about tKCNMβ1mRNA expression levels in the placenta and uterine smooth muscle (p>0.05).Conclusion The level of KCNMβ1in serum and the express of KCNMβ1mRNA in maternal placenta and uterine smooth muscle was obviously decreased in mild and severe preeclampsia pregnant women, which suggested that lower expression of KCNMβ1is closed to preeclampsia. KCNMβ1may be involved in the path-physiology process of preeclampsia.
