Purpose: To investigate the change of the default-mode network (DMN) by usingAmplitude of Low-Frequency Fluctuation (ALFF) methods in acute phase patientsafter mild traumatic brain injury(mTBI) and contrast with healthy control subjects tocorrelate DMN connectivity changes with neurocognitive tests and clinical symptoms.Materials and Methods:12patients with mTBI and10healthy control subjects inthis study.Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging was performed at GEMR7503T to characterize the DMN by using ALFF methods, The fMRI data wereprocessed with the software of REST V1.8、SPM5、DPARSFA V2.0and MRIcronbased MATLAB R2007a7.0.During the pre-processing steps, the fMRI data wererealigned, normalized, spatially smoothed, linear regressed, and band-passfiltered.ALFF images of DMN components were compared between the two groups(Student t-tests were used to perform comparisons).Results:1.Compared to the control subjects, the mTBI patients showed significantlydecreased ALFF values in Cerebellum Posterior Lobe,Cerebellar Tonsil,InferiorSemi-Lunar Lobule,Left Superior Temporal Gyrus,Left Middle Temporal Gyrus,Left Parietal Lobe,Left Postcentral Gyrus.2. Compared to the control subjects, the mTBI patients showed significantlydecreased ALFF values in Limbic Lobe,Cingulate Gyrus(including PCC and ACC),Precuneus,Left Superior Temporal Gyrus,Left Middle Temporal Gyrus,RightFrontal Gyrus.Conclusion:1.mTBI patients specifically demonstrates increased ALFF values in thecognitive-related brain areas and decreased ALFF values in the This may beassociated with impaired patients with mTBI body coordination.2. The certain differences between mTBI patients and healthy controls on DMNrelated brain regions in activation intensity and range prompt that mTBI leads to theDMN activation patterns change, these changes may be a neural function in patientswith mTBI.fMRI study on mTBI provide a certain value of reasearch and diagnosis.
