ObjectiveCough is a common disease of respiratory system, no significant lung disease and lasts for three weeks, it is called chronic cough. There are variety of ways can cause chronic cough, such as postnasal drip syndrome (PNDs)、cough variant asthma(CVA)and gastro esophageal reflux(GER). In this study, the main study object is that the chronic cough is caused by the stomach esophagus regurgitation. The simple and persistent cough may be the only clinical manifestation of the stomach esophagus regurgitation cough (GERC), or may be associated with acid regurgitation, nausea, retrosternal burning sensation, abdominal pain and other symptoms of gastro esophageal reflux. The main pathogeneses of GERC is the ante reflux defense mechanism became weaker and the damage caused by the acid reflux. There is no clear definition for GERC in traditional Chinese Medicine, it is generally considered as "internal cough","spit acid","thoracic obstruction" and so on. The viscera function disorders, eating disorders, losing control of emotion, internal injuries caused by tiredness, aging and physically weakness, all of the above are the etiology of TCM and each can lead to GERC. For example, the pathogenic factor can invade the lung and stomach of a patient, when the adverse invading goes up, the patient began coughing. Therefore, pathogenic factor leads to cough. The goal of health education is to change the unwholesome lifestyle and social behavior by disseminating health information. By changing the bad habits of the research object, the hazard factor of the disease can be reduced or even removed. To implement the prevention of disease, we can become healthier and raise the quality of life. This study is comparing the combination of TCM treatment and health educations effect with the effect that taking omeprazole for treating GERC.Methods 60cases of chronic cough caused by the GRED, divided into two groups. One treatment group with30cases:taking the Chinese medicine and offering the health education. Control group with30cases:taking omeprazole only. Clinical indicators:using the LCQ to systematize the observation of the cough symptom of GERC. All of the patients are came from the department of internal medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou university of TCMResultsBefore treatment, no statistically significant differences were found between the treatments group and the control group, such as age, sex, course of disease, syndrome differentiation of TCM, Leicester Cough Quality of life questionnaire (LCQ), Nwxium scale (RDQ)and the cough symptom score table, all of those indicating that two groups are comparable. After treatment, two groups in LCQ scores were increased, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), the clinical symptoms of cough score was significantly lower than that before treatment, with a significant difference between two groups (P<0.05), the treatment group efficiency is96.67%, control group efficiency is73.33%, indicating that the treatment group is better than the control group of treating the cough.ConclusionThe treatment group to treat GERC is better than western medicine group, the clinical efficacy of the treatment group, to improve the symptoms of GERC.
