Objective:To understand the situation on social anxiety of higher vocational nursing students in a city of Fujian Province. To explore the relationship among social anxiety, self acceptance, interpersonal skills, coping style and social support, in order to provide scientific evidence for the psychological health education of higher vocational nursing students.Method:The higher vocational nursing students were assessed by self-assessment questionnaires..The survey tools include the basic informaiton, Interaction Anxiousness Scale, Coping Style Questionnaire, Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire of college students, Social Support Rating Scale and Self Acceptance Questionnaire. The data was analysed by SPSS17.0.Results:1. Subjects were1028higher vocational nursing students with an average social anxiety of40.53±7.20. which is higher than the normal (t=4.40, P<0.001).Higher vocational nursing students social anxiety on students has statistical differences on, etc. There were statistical differences of social anxiety between different students (residence, only child or not, whether the student leader and family relationship)(P<0.05)2. There were statistical differences of social support between different students (only child or not, whether the student leader, professional attitude and family relationship)(P<0.05). There were statistical differences of interpersonal skills between different students (grade, residence and whether the student leader)(P<0.05). There were statistical differences of self-acceptance between different students (whether the student leader and professional attitude)(P<0.05). The score of positive coping styles in the student leader were higher than non-student leader (P<0.05) There were statistical differences of negative coping style between different students (residence and only child or not)(P<0.05)3. The scores of social anxiety were negatively related with interpersonal skills, self-acceptance, positive coping styles and social support (r=-0.741, P<0.001; r=-0.515, P<0.001; r=-0.100, P<0.01; r=-0.167, P<0.001), and were positively related with negative coping styles (r=0.155, P<0.001)4. The results of regression analysis showed that interpersonal skills and self acceptanca into the regression equation (R2=0.586, F=728.273, P<0.001)Conclusions:1. The social anxiety of the nursing students should be paid attention to. The students who came from rural areas, no brothers or sisters, non-student leader and family discord have the most serious social anxiety.2. The negative coping styles was risk factor for social anxiety, however, positive coping styles, social support, interpersonal skill and self-acceptance were protective factors for social anxiety.3. The interpersonal skill and self-acceptance, especially the latter, were better predictors for social anxiety.
