Objective:To analysis the behavior problems of children with phenylketonuria, the family environment, the psychological condition of their mothers, and the relationship between the behavior problems and the family environment and the psychological condition of their mothers,in order to seek better treatment options.Method:32preschool children with phenylketonuria detected by neonatal screening in Qingdao compared to42matched children. Conners Parent Symptoms Questionnaire (PSQ), Family Environment scale-Chinese version(FES-CV) and symptom check list-90(SCL-90) are used to investigate the related factors of the two groups.Result:①The conflict scores of FES-CV in PKU children were significantly higher than those in controls while the organization scores were lower than those in controls(P<0.01).The children with PKU was lower than the control group in the scores of ethical-religion and achievement orientation (P<0.05).②In the comparison of SCL-90of the mothers, there was no significant differences between PKU children and the controls (P>0.05).③In the comparison of PSQ, the scores of conduct problems, learning problems, impulse-hyperactivity and hyperactivity index in phenylketonuria children were higher than the controls(P<0.05).④Correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between behavior problems of phenylketonuria children and the controls and intimacy, achievement orientation, knowledge, entertainment, sense of organization as well as control factor while there was a positive correlation between behavior problems of phenylketonuria children and conflict scores of the family.⑤Correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between behavior problems of phenylketonuria children and intimacy, achievement orientation, knowledge, entertainment, sense of organization as well as control factor of family.⑥Correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between behavior problems of the controls and achievement orientation, knowledge, entertainment, ethical-religion,sense of organization as well as control factor of family.⑦Correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between behavior problems of phenylketonuria children and the controls and somatization,compulsive symptom,interpersonal relationships,depression, anxiety, hostility, phobias, paranoid,psychiatric factor and others of their mothers.⑧Psychosomatic disorder of phenylketonuria children was negative related to somatization of their mothers.⑨Correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between behavior problems of the controls and somatization,compulsive symptom, interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobias, paranoid, psychiatric factor and others of their mothers.Conclusion:There were many behavior problems in preschool phenylketonuria children. There was a correlation between behavior problems of phenylketonuria children and the family environment and the psychological condition of their mothers Measures to improve the family environment and psychological intervention to phenylketonuria children and their mothers can help to promote the therapeutic effect of the phenylketonuria children.
