The Death Level And Life Expectancy Of Population In Henan Province

ObjectivesAnalysis of the current population death level and life expectancy and itsinfluencing factors using the6th national census of Henan Province, and then weconducted horizontal comparison according to the country’s life expectancy of thesame period. Combined with previous census data of Henan, we analyzed theevolution of mortality and life expectancy, and forecasted mortality and lifeexpectancy. This study aimed to produce scientific basis for government departmentsto develop social, economic, health and population policies.MethodsA cross-sectional analysis of the death level of Henan was analyzed throughboth of the morality and life expectancy indicators. Crude mortality and standardizedmortality for age composition were calculated by Microsoft Excel2007, and lifetable was used to get life expectancy of the total population and sub-population. Wedescribed the economic and health impact of the level of life expectancy throughhierarchical clustering analysis of18prefecture-level cities basing on thedevelopment of economic and healthcare in2010. Through decomposing thedifference of the life expectancy of0-old-year group at different population or timesfrom the perspective of the age structure by Arriage factors decomposition method,we compared changes in mortality in different age groups for the whole populationchanges in life expectancy at birth contribution. Age mortality in2005,2006or2007of Henan was predicted by Lee-Carter model and life expectancy was calculated.Results1The population of Henan is94,029,939, and its death toll is509,591, then themortality rate is5.42‰in2010.Mortality rate of Hebi, Jiyuan and Nanyang city ishigher than15other prefecture-level cities, while Zhengzhou, Sanmenxia, andLuohe city has lower mortality rate.2The life expectancy in Henan province was77.87years,75.18years in maleand80.80in female. Life expectancy for male in each age group is lower than female. Thehighest life expectancy of18prefecture-level cities is Luohe (80.79), Sanmenxia (80.85),and Zhengzhou (79.90). The life expectancy in Henan province was81.71years in city,78.66years in town and76.79years in village. The life expectancy is79.62years in developed prefectures,79.21years in medium-developed prefectures and77.59years in low developed prefectures by the economic status. The lifeexpectancy is79.90years in the high-developed prefectures,77.93years in themedium-developed prefectures and77.44years in the low-developed ones by healthstatus.3Difference of Life expectancy at birth of male and female of Henan5thcensusis4.67years, while now is5.62with the fact that female is slightly more than male.Gender difference of life expectancy at0-year-old level is mainly caused by sexdifference in mortality rate of elderly population (40~65years and65~75agegroup).Moreover, the role of these two age groups continues to increase.4Predict outcomes show that mortality in Henan will continue to be reducedand a corresponding increase in life expectancy at birth in2015、2016and2017(78.69,78.77and78.84years old).ConclusionsThis study here shows that the province is slightly higher than the nationalaverage mortality rate, and life expectancy in the world, also in the medium-lowlevel. Factors affecting population death level have a lot, including gender, age,economic level, the level of public health, ethnicity as well as education. Projectionsdemonstrate that the death level of Henan Province is expected to further reduce.
