Purpose:To evaluate and compare the methods of rebuilding femoral calcar in thehip prosthesis replacement of the elderly through the three-dimensional finite elementmethod. Compare the disadvantages and advantages of two methods of rebuilding thecalcar. After the examination,we can provide theoretical mechanics basis for theclinical application. Methods: Established the ideal finite element models of the intertrochanteric uns-table fractures of the Evans-jeason Ⅳ.Simulated a situation of human’s normal walk-ing gait and loaded the models with a joint pressure of an assumed overall weight of65kg,then respectively carried out the finite element calculation of the two modles.Analyzing the variation of the stain, stress, and displacement of every model. Results:Both of the two methods of rebuilding femoral calcar could be used inthe Hpr of the elderly unstable intertronchanteric fractures. While the reconstructionof the femur calcar that made by the bone cement would be better than that made bythe reduction of fracture. Conclusion:The method of three dimensional finite element could be used todeterminewhich reconstruction of the femur calcar would be better in the treatment ofthe elderly patient’s Hpr between the bone cement and the reduction of the fracture. From the experiment,we find the reconstruction of the femoral calcar made by thebone cement is better than that made by the reduction of fracture in the biomechanical properties.
