Objective:This study was to explore the effect of health education intervention in increasing the dietary compliance among90advanced schistosomiasis patients of ascites type, to analyze the factors that influence it, to help them establishing reasonable dietary behavior, to improve the quality of life, and thereby reducing the social burden of diseases.Methods:1Health education intervention was carried out among90cases of advanced schistosomiasis with convenient sampling methods and the compliance of reasonable diet was assessed by questionnaire of self-drawing up.2To establish a database with Epidata3.2statistical software and to use SPSS16.0and Excel2003for statistical analysis. Qualitative indicators were compared by using chi-square test and quantitative indicators by t-test, the rate of groups were compared by using chi-square test and calculating confidence interval with Scheffe confidence intervals method.Results:1The score of dietary compliance was raised from15.73±4.22to20.43±3.39, and the rate of dietary compliance from56.67%to92.22%(P <0.05) with health education intervention among90cases of advanced schistosomiasis.2The rate of dietary compliance in male patients rose from61.40%to92.98%by health education intervention and female patients from48.48%to90.91%; in the groups of≤60years and≥61years, the rates of dietary compliance were increased from62.79%and48.94%to95.35%and89.36%; in the group of primary and below, it increased from50.85%to91.53%; in married patient group, it increased from64.41%to93.22%and from41.94%to92.22%in unmarried/divorced/widowed group; in the group of≤300yuan (family incomes), it rose from55.54%to91.89%; in the group of≤5years (disease duration), it rose from76.47%to97.06%and in≥6years group, rose from44.64%to89.29%; the rate increased from71.43%to92.86%in group with no history of hemorrhage, and from43.75%to91.67%with history of hemorrhage; in <2times and3times (hospitalization), the rates were increased from46.43%to90.24%and from65.31%to93.88%. Differences in groups were statistically significant (P<0.05).3The confidence interval (%) of rate difference of dietary compliance was31.58±11.36in males and42.43±11.91in females after health education intervention, and the proportion was more in females than in males; in groups of≤60years and≥61years were32.56±10.89and40.42±12.13, and the rate difference in group of≥61years is larger; the rate difference in group of primary and lower is40.68±11.82, which is higher than the group of junior high school and above; in married and unmarried/divorced/widowed group, The confidence intervals (%) of rate difference were28.81±11.17and48.38±11.89, and larger in unmarried/divorced/widowed group; The rate difference was approach in groups of different levels of economic income; it was larger in group≤5years (disease duration) with the rate difference of20.59±9.43than in≥6years (disease duration)with the rate difference of44.65±12.10; in groups with no history of hemorrhage and with history of hemorrhage, the rate difference were21.43±10.74and47.92±11.73, and large in group with history of hemorrhage; the rate difference in group≤2times (hospitalization times)(43.90±11.99) is large than in group≥3times (hospitalization times)(28.57±11.01).Conclusions:1The compliance of reasonable diet among advanced schistosomiasis patients of ascites type may be raised by health education intervention.2The dietary compliance in age, sex, marriage, education, income(300yuan per person monthly), disease duration time, hemorrhage history and hospitalization times was raised (P<0.05).3The interventional effect of health education in primary and lower education, unmarried/divorced/widowed, disease duration time(6years-), hemorrhage history, and hospitalization times(≤2)were better. 4The rate of dietary compliance from56.67%to92.22%with health education intervention.
