The Clinical Research On Myelosuppression And Quality Of Life After Chemotherapy Treated By Grain-sized Moxibustion

Objective:To choose malignant tumor patients who have suffered from myelosuppression as research objects.To record and contrast white blood cell (WBC) count、gastrointestinal reaction、 Chinese medicine symptom and quality of life of cancer patients between grain-sized moxibustion group and drug group. To explore therapeutic effects of grain-sized moxibustion on prevention of toxic and side effects induced by chemotherapy and quality of life.Methods:Thirty-two cases of cancer patients were randomly divided into grain-sized and drug groups (n=16).In the grain-sized group,moxibustion with moxa cone was directly applied to Zusanli(ST36),Dazhui(DU14),nine acupuncture every point,once a day during the course of chemotherapy.In the grain-sized group,use of granulocyte colony stimulating factor according to the clinical guidelines when WBC count reduces.This experiment begins on the day before the first chemotherapy and ends on the third day after the second chemotherapy.To observe WBC count on the day before first and second chemotherapy and the third day after first and second chemotherapy,and Chinese medicine symptom、gastrointestinal reaction、life of cancer patients on the day before and after treatment.Results:In terms of bone marrow suppression:①The grain-sized group of the general effective rate is93.75%,and the drug group is87.50%.The two groups have no statistical significance(P>0.05).②After first chemotherapy, WBC count of each group are increased compared with the day before treatment,and it has statistical significance(P<0.05).WBC count between two groups have statistical significance(P<0.05),the WBC count of the drug group is higher than the grain-sized group.③Before second chemotherapy,WBC count of the grain-sized group are increased compared with the day before treatment and after first chemotherapy(P<0.05),and WBC count of the grain-sized group are higher than the drug group(P<0.05).WBC count of the drug group are reduced compared with after first chemotherapy(P<0.05),and have no statistical significance compared with before treatment(P>0.05).④After second chemotherapy, WBC count of both groups are increased compared with the day before treatment,it shows statistical significance(P<0.05).WBC count between two groups have no statistical significance(P>0.05).In terms of gastrointestinal reaction:The morbidity of nausea^vomiting and diarrhea of the grain-sized group is lower than the drug group,and it shows statistical significance(P<0.05).The morbidity of constipation between two groups has no statistical significance(P>0.05).In terms of Chinese medicine symptom:Chinese medicine symptom of two groups are improved after treatment and have statistical significance(P<0.05) in comparison with the day before treatment.After treatment,Chinese medicine symptom of the grain-sized group are improved more than the drug group,it shows statistical significance(P<0.05).In terms of quality of life and weight:Quality of life of two groups are improved after treatment and had statistical significance(P<0.05).Quality of life of the grain-sized group is better than the drug group(P<0.05).Weight of the grain-sized group is gained after treatment(P<0.05), but weight of the drug group before and after treatment has no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:Grain-sized moxibustion during the course of chemotherapy can raise WBC count stably and durably on preventing myelosuppression caused by chemotherapy. It can effectively decrease other toxic and side effects induced by chemotherapy, especially nausea、vomiting and diarrhea. This suggests that to use grain-sized moxibustion during the course of chemotherapy can prevent the toxic side effects of chemotherapy, improve Chinese medicine symptom and increase quality of life of cancer patients.
