| Background: The population old age is the symbol which the humansociety progresses, is the world population development inevitable trend.According to the definition of aging society from World HealthOrganization (WHO), China has already stepped into aging society in1999.By2012, the aging population has reached190million, represented about14.3percent of total population, and it still growing. The aging ofpopulation will add economic load to the society, and cause a series ofeffects on the family construction and the old people service, so it is veryurgent to find an effective way to study and solve this problem.Objective: By comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) tocollecting data on psychology, sociology, the functional status and qualityof life to study the factors affecting the psychosomatic status of elderly inChongqing, and provide reference material for treatment and prevention ofsenile diseases.Method: To evaluate factors that could influence health such asphysical health, skills for everyday living, medical situation, psychologicalstate, mental state, and discuss the correlation mechanism between thoserisk factors.Result:1. As people got older, the number of women elderly and the risk of losing spouses increased and the common chronic diseases among elderlyin Chongqing were hypertension, coronary heart disease, cataract, diabetesand osteoarthrosis, and the most common symptoms were memory loss.2. The ability of daily living (ADL) in old people reduced in somedifferent degree, especially in aspects as cooking, personal finance manage,public transportation using and shopping.3. The survey shows that, there were68.2percent of old people withcognitional functional disorder, and most of them were Mild cognitiveimpairment (MCI). Mental symptoms, such as depression and anxietyexists widely in elderly, there were24.3percent of interviewees withdepression, but the major of them with minor depression. The studies alsodocumented a correlation analyses among sexes, age, education level,marital status, mental and cognitive status. The result shows the relativefactors that age and education level have a clear correlation with cognitivestatus, and there were statistically significant in gender, age, education level,living state, cognitive function between elderly who was in differentmarital status (P<0.05).4. This article discovers many problems through overall investigationfor medical condition. There were still individuals who were suffering fromchronic diseases did not pay more attention to itself health, especiallymental disorders. The burden of medical cost was still heavy, about36.8percent elderly have to pay more than five thousand RMB for theirhealth-spending every year, and more than half of them need double.Conclusion: There exist many problems of certain extent in elderly inChongqing. At present, there have had many studies on physical health, butmost studies were concerned with the treatment of physical illness, whileless of people pay attention to mental disorders. In fact, psychologicalsupport is especially important in managing and treating chronic disease of old people. Therefore, carrying out the CGA project as soon as possible inhigh risk group of elderly will be crucial to find potential problems earlyand take effective action to change and improve their quality of life, thusgreatly reducing the burden on society and family. Simultaneously, theproject may give some references to the government for their policymaking. |
