Inflammatory pseudotumor of the liver, featuring main pathologicalchanges like local chronic nonspecific inflammatory cell infiltration andfibrous connective tissue nodular hyperplasia, refers to rare benign liverlesions with relatively mild and atypical clinical symptoms. Its pathogenesisand etiology remain unclear at present, but lithocholic acid may be acritical factor in the formation process of liver inflammatory pseudotumor. And in terms of its etiology, the inflammatory pseudotumor may be relatedto infection factors, immune factors, infection-immune factors and so on.With the imaging findings of hepatic inflammatory pseudotumor beingrecognized and summarized continuously, ultrasound, CT, and MRIexamination have been significantly helpful to the diagnosis of hepaticinflammatory pseudotumor. As its non-specific imaging findings make itquite difficult to distinguish hepatic inflammatory pseudotumor from otherbenign and malignant liver diseases, the pathological examination is oftennecessary for the final diagnosis of flammatory pseudotumor. Liver biopsy isable to accurately diagnose the majority of hepatic inflammatorypseudotumor, which makes extremely valuable for the treatment of hepatic inflammatory pseudotumor. In most cases diagnosed patients shouldundergo conservative therapy, but under certain conditions, surgicaltreatment is still indispensable.
