Phased High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (pHIFU) treatment is a risingnon-invasive cancer treatment technology, which, by focusing ultrasoundbeams at tumor tissue, generates instantaneous high temperature (above65degrees C) and irreversible damage in cancer cells without hurting normaltissue around. Phased HIFU treatment system can bypass bones such as ribs, improving the flexibility of HIFU. The limitation of pHIFU technology liesin the lack of guidance mechanism and real-time temperature monitoring.Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is widely used in the field of medicalimaging. It can carry out imaging on any level with relatively high spatial andtemporal resolutions. Besides, MRI has no side effect, making itself suitablefor guidance and real-time temperature monitoring in pHIFU treatment. Therefore, MRI-pHIFU technology stands for the development tendency ofultrasound therapy. This paper, on the basis of the pHIFU of my laboratory, introduces myresearch on rapid MRI data acquisition and accurate temperaturemeasurement. The workflow of data acquisition is divided into three parts:file updating, DICOM data acquisition and therapy planning. According tothe workflow a program is coded in C++. When studying accuratetemperature measurement, I use a method called proton resonance frequencyand implement it on MATLAB, building a platform for temperature monitoring in next step. In additional to these, a communication protocolbetween MRI system and pHIFU system is designed and debugging has beenconducted, which has laid the foundation for the technology fusion of MRIand pHIFU.
