Object:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of placement of triangular intraut-erine balloon stent after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis in women with Asherman’s syndrome.Patients and methods:women who underwent hysteroscopic treatment because of IUA at Chinese PLA Navy General Hospital between August 2013 and August 2014 were invited to participate. After hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, participants were randomized to either have their uterine cavity inserted with triangular intrauterine balloon stent (study group) or not (control group). postoperative antibiotic prophylaxis 1-3days. None of the participants received preoperative and postoperative hormone therapy and others.Measurements:Adhesion recurrence is the main outcome.Menstrual pattern, Endometrium, Abdominal pain,Infection (WBC count and Fever),Pregnancy are secondary outcomes.Statistical analyses:Using SPSS 16.0 for Windows. Variables were analysed by t-test, Chi-square test and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Statistical significance was accepted at p<0.05.Results:The balloon group (n=29) achieved significantly lower in the adhesion recurrence than control group (n=28) (p<0.05). Neointimal improvement rate was significantly higher in the balloon group(p<0.05). The difference in the rate of menstrual improvement was not statistically significant.p>0.05) Postoperative complication rates were similar between the 2 groups(p>0.05)Conclusion:The triangular intrauterine balloon stent may be effective and safe in preventing the recurrence of intrauterine adhesions, may be it will not improve pregnancy outcome.
