Objective:To investigate the effect of prednisolone in the prevention of bone cement implantation syndrome for elderly patients undergoing artificial joint replacement.Method:Fifty-one patients who scheduled for artificial joint replacement were randomly divided into 3 groups:in cementless group, patients were given cementless artificial joint; in cemented group, patients were not given any medication before the bone cement implantation in artificial joint replacement; in prednisolone pretreatment group, patients were given prednisolone 0.3mg/kg when preparing bone cement. Blood pressure, ECG and SpO2 at 1 min before bone cement implantation (To) bone cement implantation(T1),1 min after bone cement implantation (T2), 3 min after bone cement implantation(T3),5 min after bone cement implantation(T4),10 min after bone cement implantation(T5),30 min after bone cement implantation(T6) were recorded respectively. Results:As compared with To, the systolic pressure in the cementless group was significantly declined at T1~T6 (P<0.05), the cemented group was significantly declined at T2-T6 (P<0.05), the prednisolone pretreatment group showed no significantly difference (P>0.05); the systolic pressure positive rate in prednisolone group was lower than the other two groups (P<0.05). As compared with To, the diastolic pressure in the cementless group was significantly declined at T2-T6 (P<0.05), the bone cement group was significantly declined at T2-T5 (P<0.05), the prednisolone pretreatment group showed no significantly difference (P>0.05); the diastolic pressure positive rate in prednisolone group was lower than the other two groups (P<0.05). There was no significantly difference in the HR and SpO2 between the 3 groups. The usage of ephedrine in the prednisolone pretreatment group was lower than the other two groups. Conclusion:Application of prednisolone at 0.3mg/kg before the artificial joint replacement can lower the incidence rate of bone cement implantation syndrome.
