Objective Application of independent component analysis, to explore the role of “dorsal attention network” in attention dysfunction mechanism of heroin addicts. Methods 17 heroin addicts(HA) were recruited as HA group and 17 healthy controls at the same period were recruited as HC group. We investigated the neuropsychological test of all 34 subjects to compared the differences on attention function between the HA group and the HC group. All f MRI date was preprocessed after a resting-state f MRI scan, then, using independent component analysis method to extract the “dorsal attention network” of two groups, and to compare the differences between the HA group and HC group. Results There were obvious differences between the HA group and the HC group in the attention function(p﹤0.05); we found that, both groups of the “dorsal attention network” extracted by using independent component analysis included bilateral intraparietal sulcus, frontal eye field, middle frontal gyrus, middle temporal gyrus, inferior temporal gyrus, etc. The HA group showed decreased functional connectivity in most of the dorsal attention regions with the predominance in the right intraparietal sulcus, middle frontal gyrus.(p﹤0.05).Conclusion Heroin addiction can cause damage to person’s attention function.Altered functional connectivity of the “dorsal attention network” reflected the dysfunction in attention network of heroin addicts.
