Objective:To investigate the mechanism, clinical features, relevant checks, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma,in order to improve the quality of diagnosis and therapeutic effects of the disease. Methods:To analyze the clinical data of one case of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma patient, review and summary the literature. DatarA male patient, sustained abdominal distension prior to admission, abdominal ultrasonography suggested ascites.Interventions:Systemic chemotherapy, maintain organ function, enhance immunity and provide energy were given after diagnosis was confirmed following conventional examinations, abdominocentesis, abdominal CT test, PET-CT, electronic gastroscopy, colonoscopy and pathologicalbiopsy.Relevant emergency measures were then taken due to rapid development of the course. Results:With common causes of ascites ruled out,PET-CT finding showed abnormally high diffusive FDP metabolism in peritoneum, omentummajus, lesser omentum, and mesentery, which suggested pathological examinations.Gray nodules scattered upon the omentum, parietal peritoneum, stomach and intestinal serosa surface of various sizes, shapes, locations could be observed under laparoscope.Post-operational tests then confirmed malignant peritoneal mesothelioma(epithelial type). Conclusion:Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma is a rare disease with no specificity concerning clinical manifestations, ascites and imaging testFor the diagnosis of patients with ascites,we should find out causes from commonillnesses first, but also pay attention to possibility of rare diseases.Because the prognosis is so poor, awareness of it should be raised to prevent, diagnose and treat so early.
