Background and Objective:Subclinical hypothyroidism is a state in which there are increased serum TSH levels, normal serum free thyroid hormone(FT4) and free three triiodothyronine(FT3) levels in patients with no thyroid disease, or almost no corresponding symptoms and signs of hypothyroidism. Subclinical hypothyroidism, clinical symptom is slight, but the sustainable existence or progression to clinical hypothyroidism. The recent research shows, subclinical hypothyroidism can significantly increase the incidence of atherosclerosis(AS). Measurement of carotid ultrasound assessment of carotid atherosclerosis is a noninvasive index. In the patients with subclinical hypothyroidism by carotid ultrasound assessment of atherosclerosis, and to explore the relationship between TSH levels in patients with subclinical hypothyroidism. Methods:From 2012 December-2014 year in January the Feicheng Municipal People’s Hospital endocrinology clinic or ward, with complete clinical data, diagnosis of subclinical hypothyroidism patients with a total of 68 cases, all patients to exclude the pituitary tumor, severe liver and kidney dysfunction, diabetes, use of estrogen clothing familial hyperlipidemia and nearly 3 months, lipid-lowering drugs and thyroxine and iodine and other medications that affect thyroid function. Through the determination of thyroid function(TSH, FT3, FT4) and carotid intima-media thickness, grouping will be measured by the TSH higher than the normal range level, relationship with general linear model approach to the study of subclinical hypothyroidism in patients with TSH and carotid artery intima-media thickness. Results:1.Each groups in age, gender had no significant difference(P >0.05)(P >0.05).2.With the higher TSH value, gradually increased, the incidence of plaque, severity of plaque and carotid artery wall intima-media thickness is more and more serious. There were significant differences among different grades(P <0.05).3.The CIMT as the dependent variable, the object of age and sex, FT3, FT4, TC, TSH respectively, correlation and regression analysis, results showed that TSH, TC and CIMT were positively correlated, the correlation coefficients were r=0.951, r=0.974. And the TSH and TC also positively correlated, the correlation coefficient r=0.953. Groups TSH, TC and CIMT were positively correlated to.4.Taking CIMT as the dependent variable, age, sex, serum TC, TSH, FT3, FT4 as the dependent variable, stepwise regression variables, variables in the equation were TC, TSH. Standardized regression coefficients were 0.206, 0.058, P< 0.05. Suggested that patients with subclinical hypothyroidism and TC, TSH CIMT. Conclusions:1 patients with subclinical hypothyroidism, along with changes in the level of TSH, the incidence of plaque and plaque thickness increases.2.At different TSH levels, serum lipid levels between, subclinical hypothyroidismmay affect the lipid metabolism, resulting in the occurrence of atherosclerosis.3. Closely related to TSH level and the degree of atherosclerosis, with the higher the TSH level, the correlation between atherosclerosis, plaque incidence rate is high.
