Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of RECK gene and Matrix Metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2), Matrix Metalloproteinase-14(MMP-14) in the primary plemorphic adenoma(PA), recurrent PA and malignant PA.Methods: Fifty samples including 36 primary PA,7recurrent PA,7 malignant PA and 10 normal parotid glands as control were examined immunohistocheemically Among the 10 PA samples, there were all samples originated from parotid gland. RECK gene, MMP-2 and MMP-14 were decected immunohistochemically and semi-quantitively in these samples. All date were analyzed through SPSS 13.0 software. Results: MMP-2 has significant difference in normal group and recurrent group(P < 0.05), the difference was statistically significant in normal group and the malignant group(P < 0.05); the difference was statistically significant in primary group and recurrent group(P < 0.05); the difference was statistically significant in primary group and the malignant group(P < 0.05). The expression of RECK and MMP-2 and MMP-14 were negative correlation, respectively, in normal parotid gland, primaryPA,recurrent PA and maligant PA(r =- 0.887, P < 0.05; r =0.798, P <0.05). Conclusion: Clinically, in the tissue of the salivary glands, PA will relapse. When examined both RECK and MMP-2 have significant meaning. Through this examination, tumor aggressiveness and prognosis can be indicated.
