Objective: This work aimed to evaluate the expression of MIF in breast carcinoma tissues, para-carcinoma tissue and normal tissues. Methods: The rapid and accurate methods for detection of MIF expression in 85 cases of breast carcinoma tissues, para-carcinoma tissues and normal tissues are real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction(FQ-PCR) and western blotting. Results: The expression quantity of MIF m-RNA in breast carcinoma tissues is 3.18×10-2±1.19×10-2 was significantly higher than corresponding para-carcinoma tissues 1.38×10-2±0.05×10-2(P<0.05). The western blotting shows protein expression level in breast carcinoma tissues(0.879±0.232) was significantly higher than para-carcinoma tissues(0.325±0.178)(P<0.05). MIF expression in carcinoma tissues is obviously higher than para-carcinoma tissues. The two detection methods get consistent results from gene and protein levels, MIF expression in carcinoma tissues is obviously higher than para-carcinoma tissues. Conclusion: MIF differential expression in breast carcinoma tissues and para-carcinoma tissues indicates that it may play an important role in the process of breast carcinoma development.
