Objective: To investigate the expression of tetraspanin CO-029 in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC) and its clinical significance. Methods: RT-PCR and western blot were used to detect the expressions of CO-029 in ICC and the matched para-tumor tissues from 20 cases of ICC, and in HCCC-9810 cell lines. The expressions of CO-029 were further detected via tissue microarry(TMA) in tumor samples from 40 cases of ICC. Furthermore, the correlations bettween the expression of CO-029 and the clinicopathologic features and prognosis of the tumor were analyzed. Results: A high level of CO-029 was detected in the 20 cases of ICC and HCCC-9810 cell lines via western blot and RT-PCR. Moreover, the expression level of CO-029 in ICC tissues was apparently higher than that in the matched para-tumor tissues(P<0.05). Furthermore, the TMA detection revealed the positive expression rate of CO-029 was 65%(26/40), and grouped by time to recurrence(TTR), the expression of CO-029 was much higher in the early recurrence group(TTR<1year) than that in the non-recurrence group(TTR≥1year). In addition, the analyzation showed the correlations were significant bettween the expression of CO-029 and the tumor encapsulation, hilar lymph node metastasis, TNM stage and the prognosis(P<0.05).Conclusion: CO-029 was highly expressed in ICC, and probably had close correlations with recurrence and metastasis and the prognosis of ICC. |
