Objective: The aim of the study is to find out the best treatment method forposttraumatic stiffness of the elbow with HO, by observing and evaluating the clinicalefficacy of zhenggushenjin capsule (bonesetting common clubmoss capsule). Method:This study chooses42cases between March2011and December2013in WendengOsteopath Hospitals (Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional ChineseMedicine), as the observation subject. All the cases,27male and15female, are listed inchronologic order, and are randomly divided into two Groups with respective treatmentmethods: Group A (elbow arthrlysis equiped dynamic joint distractor hinged externalfixators combined with taking capsule of zhenggushenjin orally) and Group B (elbowarthrlysis equiped dynamic joint distractor hinged external fixators). The clinical researchstarts on the8th day after the operation and lasts for at least1year. Result: All the subjectsare followed up for more than1year, and there are no obvious untoward effects. Thestatistical analysis shows that the efficacy of treatment used in Group A is better than thatused in Group B in treating posttraumatic stiffness of the elbow with HO. Conclusion: Thestudy suggests that Elbow arthrlysis equiped dynamic joint distractor hinged externalfixators combined with taking capsule of zhenggushenjin orally has a significant effect ontreating posttraumatic stiffness of the elbow with HO. During early treatment, curativeeffect is not significant. From the long-term perspective, this treatment method caneffectively relieve pain and keep the range of motion.
