ObjectiveTo investigate the relationshipbetween beta-blocker and miR-29b for the pathogenesis ofMarfan syndrome.MethodsA total of25MFS patients (group A) were enrolled, five patientsand eight unaffected numbers (group B) were from two different families.25healthy volunteers (group C) were also enrolled as control group. The expressions of miR-29b were detected by RQ-PCR.10in25MFS patients accepted beta-blocker therapy.ResultsThe expression of miR-29bwas higher in group Athan that in group C (P<0.05), which was higher in group B than that in group C, but lower than that in group A (P<0.05).The miR-29b expression was down-regulated in the treated patients compared to that in the untreated patients. Conclusion The expression of miR-29b was up-regulated in the patients with MFS. Beta-blocker can delay the development of MFS by inhibiting the expression of miR-29b.
