Expression Of HIF-2and Twist Protein In Pancreatic Cancer And Its Clinical Significance

Objective：HIF-2and Twist protein is member of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)transcription factors family, and promote the invasion and metastasis of cancers bycontrolling the expression of cancer-related gene. This study was aimed to assess theexpression of HIF-2and Twist protein in pancreatic cancer and its clinical significance,and the correlation of HIF-2and Twist expression.Methods:(1) The expression of HIF-2and Twist protein was assessed byimmunohistochemistry, the difference between pancreatic cancer tissues and non-tumortissues was also assessed.(2) The correlation between HIF-2or Twist expression andclinicopathological features of pancreatic cancer was statistically analyzed.(3)Thecorrelation between HIF-2expression and Twist expression was analyzed by Spearmananalysis.Results:(1) The positive rate and staining score of HIF-2and Twist protein inpancreatic cancer tissues was higher than in adjcent non-tumor tissues with a statisticallydifference (P<0.05).(2) The analysis of correlation between HIF-2or Twist expression andclinical significance shows that expression of HIF-2protein is strongly linked to tumor size,clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and vascular invasion (P<0.05), and no statisticallycorrelation with gender, age, tumor location and differentiation (P>0.05). Similarly, there issignificantly correlation between twist expression and lymph node metastasis and vascularinvasion (P<0.05), and no correlation with gender, age, tumor location, tumor size,differentiation and clinical stage (P>0.05).(3) The data of Spearman analysis shows thatthere is a positive correlation between HIF-2and Twist expression.Conlusion: HIF-2and twist protein is upregulation in pancreatic cancer, and itsexpression is closely associated with invasion and metatasis parameters like lymph nodemetastasis and vascular invasion. The positive correlation between HIF-2and twistexpression indicates that HIF-2may be interact with Twist to promote pancreatic cancerinvasion and metastasis, and HIF-2or Twist is potential targets for therepy.
