With the advancement of technology, virtual reality technology providesparticipants with realistic experience by breaking through the limitations of time,places and reality of conditions, with its rich design capabilities and powerful virtualsimulation features. With the rapid development of hardware and software, manydeveloped countries have applied the virtual reality technology to the aerospace,military exercises, health care, entertainment and other industries. But relativelyfew are applied in mental health consultation and education. Therefore, I hope thisstudy which mainly discusses the feasibility of virtual reality technology in Sandplaycan not only help Sandplay techniques develop better but also provide support forserving the community more widely. The author entitled the thesis "Application ofvirtual reality technology in Sandplay." based on the current domestic andinternational application, research and development of virtual reality technology.This paper consists of three parts. The first part, the main contents of the studyare determined by application methods of the virtual reality technology in education,medicine and other industries and developments of Sandplay within the country aswell as in abroad currently. The second part, collation and discussion of themeaning, types and characteristics of virtual reality technology paves the way totechnical implementation on the design of this study. The third part, the study ofcurrent virtual reality technology and the development of mental health consultationprovides the foundation for the feasibility of the research and design in this article.Then take the Sandplay on "typical anxiety" patients as example and develop a"distributed virtual Sandplay" design based on the application of current mainstreamvirtual reality software. Thus, experiencers or learners can counsel and study withoutever leaving home, without running around in a hurry, without facing unfamiliar consultants or teachers and uncomfortable environment.Virtual reality technology in Sandplay for mental health consultation andeducation provides new forms, and has played a good role in promoting mentalconsultation more greatly and serve the community more extensively. I believe thatwith the joint efforts of most workers and counselors, the virtual reality technologywill be applied better in the field of counseling and education.
