Objective:To explore the expression of metallothionein (MT),superoxidedismutase (SOD) and catalase(CAT)in serum in33cases of pulmonary fibrosis, carryout the correlation analysis with expression of MT and lung function(DLCO%),and toclarify the role and significance of metallothionein in the formation of pulmonaryfibrosis.Method:33patients are diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis in department ofrespiratory medicine in second hospital of Jilin University in september2013toseptember2014,respectively,female patients are19cases,male patients are14cases,their average age is60±13.11,combined with the patient’s chest CT imaging, clinicaldata and serological marks, these patients are divided into threegroups, respectively, group A is7patients with IPF, group B is7patients withconnective tissue disease-related interstitial pneumonia, group C is19patients withinterstitial pneumonia which can not be clearly classified. The control group are6healthy people, respectively, female patients are3cases,male patients are3cases, theiraverage age is58±11.24.5ml fasting blood of39patients are taken to examine theexpression of MT,SOD,CAT in serum with enzyme-linked immunosorbentassay(ELISA).To determine the lung function(DLCO%) with lung function detector.Result:1.The expression levels of metallothionein(MT)The expression of MT in group A and group B of pulmonary fibrosis group[(2643.43±666.27)ng/L;(2565.33±515.66)ng/L]were lower than the control group[(13094.50±3598.60)ng/L], the difference was statistically significant, P all<0.01.Theexpression of MT in group C[(2855.68±754.01)ng/L] was also lower than the control group [(13094.50±3598.60)ng/L], the difference was statistically significant, P <0.05.2.The expression levels of antioxidantsSuperoxide dismutase(SOD):The expression of SOD in group A and group B ofpulmonary fibrosis group [(117.96±23.79)U/mL;(117.00±21.23)U/mL]were lowerthan the control group [(415.17±103.63)U/mL], the difference was statisticallysignificant, P all<0.01.The expression of SOD in group C[(123.06±25.93)U/mL] wasalso lower than the control group [(415.17±103.63)U/mL], the difference wasstatistically significant, P <0.05.Catalase(CAT):The expression of CAT in group A,group B and group C ofpulmonary fibrosis group [(32.94±13.73)U/L;(28.85±12.10)U/L;(33.33±13.89)U/L]were lower than the control group[(241.49±79.30)U/L],the difference was statisticallysignificant, P all<0.05.3.The expression levels of MT in serum of patients with pulmonary fibrosis werepositively correlated with DLCO%(r=0.7136P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The expression of MT,SOD,CAT in pulmonary fibrosis group(group A,B,C)arelower, compared with the healthy control group.2.The expression levels of MT in serum of patients with pulmonary fibrosis werepositively correlated with DLCO%.3.Metallothionein(MT) expression levels may partly reflect the level of oxidativestress in patients, monitoring the expression level of metallothionein(MT) inpatients with pulmonary fibrosis can indicate the severity and prognosis to a certainextent.4.Oxidation-antioxidant imbalance is an important mechanism for promoting thedevelopment of pulmonary fibrosis.
