It is a hot topic that surfactant has had many negativeimpacts when used in textile alongwith people’s understanding of chemicals. Surfactant can cause harm when residues on thehuman body, especially on the skin. In textile printing and dyeing industry, people pay moreattention to anionic surfactant, which is the highest one in production in surfactantindustry. Therefore, the relationshipbetween chemical structure and cell toxicityfound outbyinspecting the cytotoxicity of anionic surfactantsisof important practical significance. In order to explore cell toxicity of the three kinds of anionic surfactants sodium salt and therelationship between cell toxicity and molecular structure, MTTcolorimetric method was usedtoevaluate cell toxicity of anionic surfactantssodium salt by testing the proliferation effect of3kinds of alkyl sulfate sodium salt,4kinds of alkyl sulfonic acid sodium salt and3kinds of alkylcarboxylic salton human cervical carcinoma cell (HeLa) and Chinese hamster ovary cells (CHO).The results showed that the three seriesof anionic surfactantssodium salt have obvious promotingeffect on cell proliferation in the lowconcentration range, and the promoting effect increased firstand then decreasedwith the increase of concentration. The subjects on the cell proliferationinhibited significantly when in high concentration range, and the inhibition increased with theincreasing of concentration. Under the same concentration, the promoting effect decreased whenincreasing the carbon chain lengthand the inhibiting effect increased with the increase of carbonchain length.Under the same carbon chain length, thecell toxicity of sodium alkyl sulfatewasbiggest, which was bigger thanalkyl sulfonic acid sodium salt’s cell toxicity, cell toxicity ofalkylcarboxylic acid sodium saltwas minimum. In addition, the introduction of-O-bond enhanced thecytotoxic of anionic surfactants. To explore theinfluenceof anionic surfactant on the human body skin cell proliferation, human skin fibroblasts (CCC-ESF-1) was choose for the carrier to research the cytotoxicity oflauryl sodium sulfate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid and dodecyl carboxylic acid sodiumby MTT method. The results showed that the cytotoxicity ofdodecyl benzene sulfonic acid sodium wasbiggest, twelve sodium alkyl carboxylic acid wasminimum, thecytotoxicity of sodium lauryl sulfate wasbigger than the sodium dodecylsulfateunder the same concentration.
