Objective:To investigate the resistance to aminoglycosides and prevalence of16S rRNA methylases genes in Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates isolated from a hospital in Huzhou. Methods:Total of215isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were collected from a hospitals of Huzhou, through January,2011to December,2012. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of these strains were examined by agar dilution method. Six16S rRNA methylase genes, armA, rmtA, rmtB, rmtC, rmtD and npmA, were detected by PCR. PCR products were purified and sequenced. Susceptibility of16S rRNA methylases-producing isolates were detected, and carbapenem coding genes were detected among carbapenem-resistant strains. Results:The highest susceptibility rate among the5antimicrobials was isepamicin,81.4%.17armA-positive isolates were identified from22Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates which were high-level resistance to five aminoglycosides. No other16S rRNA methylase gene was detected. Five of the17armA-producing strains were resistant to carbapenem (29.4%). Resistance of ceftazidime, cefepime, piperacillin/tazobactam, ciprofloxacin was all above40%. VIM-2gene was detect in2of the5carbapenem-resistant strains. Conclusion:The resistant rate to aminoglycosides is high in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. ArmA-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates are detected in Zhejiang province.
