The Cross-sectional Study On Cognition Of The Nurses To Nutrition Support In Surgical Department In The Hospital

ObjectivesTo investigate the cognition of nurses in surgical department to clinical nutrition support in the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou University, to get the information of development of nutrition support, nursing, knowledge about nutrition, attitude to learn the knowledge and implementation and to analyze their influencing factors.Methods1. SubjectsTotal of514nurses from20departments of surgery in the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou University and the current status of nutrition support in the department were investigated between Sept.1,2012and Aug.312013. All the nurses filled the questionnaire individually.2. Investigation methodsInvestigation questionnaires were designed by the reference of the published papers and literature as research tools mainly included personal information as well as knowledge about nutrition support, quality of nursing, attitude to learning nutrition support and implementation.3.Data analysisData analysis was performed by using SPSS17.0software.x2-test, t-test analysis of variance (ANOVA) and logistic regression test were used to analyze the differences among groups。α=0.05。Results1. In7departments (35%), nutritional risk screening were provided and in14departments (70%) detailed instructions for nutrition support delivery were provided and in13departments (65%) have blood glucose control strategy.Nutrition support treatment is still in accordance with the mode of the doctor’s advice-nurse execution, and the dietitian passive participation.2. The nurses’ knowledge of nutrition support score is62.70±17.29and nursing level score83.71±11.07.3. The way of they get the knowledge were from school education(51.25%), older nurses teaching(61.25%) and self-study(17.5%),57.5%nurses encountered relatives of patients ask questions about nutrition support in clinical work frequently,53.75%nurses think knowledge of nutrition support is important for the treatment of patients,40%nurses satisfy with their own knowledge of nutrition support,66.25%nurses likely to study knowledge of nutrition support, training.The reasons they can’t study knowledge of nutrition support ate not having enough energy(63%), no enough time(77.8%) and have no ideal institution(33.3%).4. It is significant difference among some groups on studying knowledge of nutrition support. With the analysis of logistic regression test, encountered relatives of patients ask questions about nutrition support in clinical work and weekly working time are taken into logistic regression model finally.Conclusions1. The nursing level is high, but the nurses still should study the knowledge about nutrition support in the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou University.2. The many nurses were willing to study knowledge about nutrition support in the first affiliated hospital of Zhengzhou University, but the education and training should be strengthened and the quality of nutrition therapy and nurse would be improved.
