The Clinical Analysis Of Inverted L Method For Correction Of Epicanthus Combined With Double Eyelid Plasty

Objective: To correct epicanthus by the Inverted-L’methodcombined with double eyelid plasty, summarize and evaluate the clinicalaffection based on the shape of double eyelid and the medial canthus,combined with the patient’s satisfaction.Methods： Epicanthus with Inverted-L’s method, and appropriateextension of the incision along the lower eyelid edge, separate theadhesion of the subcutaneous tissue, cut off the fault structural parts ofthe orbicularis oculi muscle. The new medial canthus was formed afterthe lacrimal caruncle was fully exposed. Then the double eyelid operationwas performed by the normal way.Result: From Jan2012to Oct2014,28cases were treated.Postoperative follow-up from6months to1year,25patients’ medialcanthuses were in good shape, postoperative incision’s scar did not appear,lacrimal caruncle exposed completely.1patient appeared slight scarformation and2patients appeared slightly superfluous skin retracted.27patients’ double eyelids were natural and symmetrical,1patient’s doubleeyelid was formed but less beautifully.No patients’ double eyelid disappeared some or all, and therewere not superfluous skin recurrence and obvious scar.The patients’total satisfaction was96.4%.Conclusions:1、This operation is reasonable and the effect is exact, so the method is a good way to correct the epicanthus.2、Due to the incision paralleling the eyelid margin,the postoperative scar is not obvious. The appearance is nature and the patient’s satisfaction ishigh.3、The whole layer of the double eyelid and the epicanthal incision is notcontinuous, prevent both scars from pulling each other, and ensure thepostoperative shape smoothly and naturally.
