Objective:To compare radiation dose and image quality between cone beam CT andmulti-slice CT, so that the most suitable mode of CT scan can be selected for clinicalapplication.Materials and Methods:According to the CT exposure conditions, Simulation phantoms equipped withthermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) were exposed to the cone beam CT andmulti-slice CT, then based on the standard curve to measure the absorbed dose of thesensitive tissues and organs of patients by BR2000D. SPSS17.0software packagewere adopted for statistical analysis. The spatial resolution and low contrast resolutionof the two conditions is compared by CT performance model when it wererespectively exposed by the cone beam CT and multi-slice CT.Result:The dose of all tissues and organs of Patients is between12.62~76.34mSv bythe MSCT exposure and is between4.45~24.01mSv by the CBCT exposure. MSCTin patients with an acceptable exposure dose is more than acceptable under the conebeam CT exposure dose (P <0.05). There are obvious differences between MSCT andCBCT. In terms of image quality, the high contrast resolution of MSCT is7lp/cm, thelow contrast resolution of MSCT is2.5mm; the high contrast resolution of CBCT is4lp/cm, the low contrast resolution of CBCT is0.4mm.Conclusion:1、The absorbed dose of patients of MSCT were higher than that of CBCT.2、The high contrast resolution and low contrast resolution of MSCT is better thanCBCT.
