Studies On Chemical Constituents And Pharmacological Activity Of The Combretum Alfredii Hance

The Combretum alfredii hance belongs to Combretaceae of Combretum. It has been used as Chinese folk medicine for the treatment of invigorating stomach, expelling parasite. There were no chemical constituents and pharmacological activities reasearch reported previously on C. alfredii hance. The active ingredients of the sterm of C. alfredii hance were studied through the methods of extraction, separation, purification and structural characterization. At the same time, in order to find the strong anti-bacterial activity compounds, the anti-bacterial activity of the crude extracts and the monomeric compounds have been evaluated, which will provide a theoretical basis and foundation material for the development and utilization of the C. alfredii hance.Under the guidance of the anti-bacterial l activity, the petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fractions of the sterm of C. alfredii hance were purified by mea ns of silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, preparative thin laye r chromatography and recrystallization etc.twenty seven compounds(1–27) were isolated and puried from the sterm of the C. alfredii hance, They were divide d into 2 lignins, 5 triterpene, 11 benzene derivatives, and 9 other compounds, the name is as follows: 3,3′,4′-tri-O-methylellagic acid(1), 3,3′-di-O-methylella gic acid(2), hederagenin(3),3β-hydroxy-lup-20(29)-ene-28-oic acid(4),6R,9R-blumenol B(5),6S,9R-blumenol B(6),2α,3β,23-trihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic(7),4-hydroxycinnamic acid(8),2-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-3-(2-hydroxy-5-methoxyphenyl)-3-oxo-1-propanol(9),5-Hydroxymethylfurfural(10),Caffeic acid(11),vomifoliol(12),3,4-dihydroxyl benzoic acid(13),2-Butene-1,4-dione(14),syringic acid(15), coniferaldehyde(16), cochinolide(17),(8R,8R)-(-)-DMSLR(18),2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde(19),3’-O-methyl-3,4-di-O-methylenedioxyellagic acid(20),β-hydroxypropio vanillone(21),L-pyroglutamic acid(22),3-O-transcaffeoylbetulinic acid(23),trans-Cinnamic acid(24),p-Hydroxybenzoic acid(25),4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid(26),trans-p-Hydroxycinnamic acid(27) Compounds 4–7, 16, 20, 22 and 24 were isolated from the C. alfredii hance for the first time. All compounds were isolated from C. alfredii hance for the f irst time. compounds 1、3、8、9、13、14、17、18 for the study of antibacteri al activity.
