With the development of the society, the problem of population aging is becoming increasingly serious, and the elderly health needs more social concerns. Alzheimer’s disease is a development disease of nerve system which is insidious onset and with a primary cerebral degeneration. The early onset of this disease is occult in symptoms and is difficult to detect. The progressive is irreversible and the brain is damaging continuously until death after attacked. The disease has now become “The Fourth Killer” in elderly except for cardiovascular diseases, cerebral vascular diseases and cancer. But China, as one of the countries that have the world’s largest number of dementia and have the fastest speed of disease growing countries, would be perplexed by the most common types of dementia AD which is causing more and more medical burden. That will affect the social and economic development and family life of Chinese. The clinical diagnosed of AD patients were in advanced, and the existing treatments are difficult to cure the disease. That is to say, it is important for AD accurately diagnosing and early assessment which has irreplaceable significant. In this paper, an AD early assessment system based on EEG signal processing was built based on the existing diagnosis methods. There are two parts of this system, application software and the data acquisition device. And the application software part includes the algorithms of EEG signal processing and the user interface. The algorithms that applied in the EEG signal processing were complexity algorithm, approximate algorithm and Hilbert Huang Transform algorithm. The parameters of the algorithms were modified adaptively, especially the processing method of the signal bound, and this improvement makes the most matching adaptability between the data and algorithm. The user interface of the software system was divided into four parts, Scale Test, Drawing Test, Guidance Test, and EEG Test. Scales used in the Scale Test were international standard scales, and the ability of thought controling action could be measured by the actions of user’s drawing in the Drawing Test part, and mild intervention was taken to user in the Guidance Test part based on music or other methods, and in the EEG Test part, user’s EEG data was collected and analyzed by the algorithms and got an assessment value, the value is used in the evaluation. Then the final report of the assessment is based on the four test mentioned above. The system could used to monitor the dementia based on the EEG Test part that monitoring user’s EEG data combined with the Scale Test and other test parts, and also could support mild intervention to detected early AD patient. Then the purpose of early assessment for AD disease could be achieved.
