The applications of chiral amino alcohols have been widely used because of their importance in asymmetric synthesis, pharmaceutical, fine chemicals, materials, and other applications. It has important practical value to study on the high efficiency, low cost and large scale preparation of chiral amino alcohols. It is a good method that they are acquired directly using the reduction of the corresponding chiral amino acids.First, chiral amino alcohols was prepared by the reduction of KBH4/Al Cl3 reductive methods. Using single factor analysis, the chief conditions, such as reaction time, temperature and molar ratio were optimized. Eleven amino alcohols were synthesized under the optimum conditions. The yields of amino alcohols could reach to above 80%. The yields of L-phenylalaninol and L-phenylglycinol could reach to over 90%.Second, an improved process was developed for the preparation of amino alcohols based on KBH4/Zn Cl2 reductive methods. Using single factor analysis, the chief conditions, such as reaction time, temperature time, molar ratio and solvent were optimized. Eleven amino alcohols were prepared under the optimum conditions. The yields of amino alcohols could reach to above 80%, include L-alaninol. This improved procedure simplifies operation, reduces the use of solvent and decreases the product cost. Then, quantitative analysis on L-phenylalaninol and L-phenylglycinol were performed through HPCE(high performance capillary electrophoresis). It was found that two crude products have above 90% content. The method is simple and accurate, and can be applied to the analysis of amino alcohols. Finally, the complexes of L-phenylalanine with zinc(Ⅱ) and aluminum(Ⅲ) were studied in this paper. The Infrared Spectras of complexes were determined, the structures and coordination mechanism of metal complexes with amino acids were discussed. It provided a certain basis for studying the reduction mechanism of metal boron hydride/metal halide.
