Part 1 Research of brachial plexus imaging of normal adult and measurement of root on 3.0T MRIObjective To investigate the application of MRI 3D-STIR-SPACE sequence in BP imaging. To observe BP MRI manifestations and measure the diameters of both sides of BP roots. To discuss if there is significant differences between different sex or sides.Methods Choosing 40 cases of healthy volunteers, each of them underwent MR BP examination by using SIEMENS 3.0T MRI scanner. Conventional sagittal T2 WI sequence, coronal T1WI/TSE sequence, axial T2 WI sequence and 3D-STIR-SPACE sequence are included. Then transport the images of 3D-STIR-SPACE sequence into the post-processing workstation, process the technology of MPR and MIP. Observe the signal characteristics and morphology of BP and measure the diameters of BP roots. Devide them into left group and right group due to different sides, and then devide them into left group of male, left group of female, right group of male and right group of female due to different sex. Analyze the differences between different groups.Results MRI can clearly show BP anatomial structure. Analyze the results of the diameters of BP roots statistically and found that there are significant differences between left and right. And there are significant differences between the diameters in male and female in both left and right sides of C7 roots.Conclusions MRI bind with post-processing technology can clearly show structure and characteristics of BP and the relationship in anatomy with surrounding tissue. The differences between left and right BP roots diameters are considered caused by that all volunteers are right-handed. The differences between diameters in male and female in both left and right sides of C7 roots needs further research.Part 2 Clinical application of brachial plexus diseases on 3.0T MRIObjective To investigate the application and clinical value of 3.0T MRI multiple sequences in BP diseases.Methods Collecting 9 cases of patients which underwent MR examination of BP by using SIEMENS 3.0T MRI scanner. Conventional sagittal T2 WI sequence, coronal T1WI/TSE sequence, axial T2 WI sequence and 3D-STIR-SPACE sequence are included. Then transport the images of 3D-STIR-SPACE sequence into the post-processing workstation, process MPR and MIP technology. Observe MR manifestations of BP diseases.Results 9 cases patients of BP diseases, 8 cases of them are BP injury which include 1 case of preganglionic injury and 7 cases of postganglionic injury. And 1 case is tumor. All 9 cases MR diagnosis accord with clinical diagnosis.Conclusions 3.0T MRI can clearly show the characteristics of BP diseases. It showed that MRI clinical application of BP diseases is of important value.
