Organ damage and reduced body balance in patients after a stroke might lead to the loss of normal living ability. Balance ability is the primary condition for people to live independently. Accurate and quantitative assessment of the balance ability can effectively predict the possibility of falling in elderly people and patients with cerebral apoplexy. At present, the evaluation methods of human body balance ability mainly focused on the balance scale method in clinical. This method depends on the physician’s experience, which has a strong subjective factors. While the evaluation accuracy of balance to the human body still has a lots of deficiencies. This study focuses on the deficiency of balance evaluation methods to do the following work:Firstly, in this paper, a method was presented in static balance ability evaluation. A force platform detection device was used to collect the motion trajectory of the center of gravity of the human body, and the real-time operating system of QNX as core and an industrial level PC/104 controller were used to build an evaluation system. The COP data of the subjects were collected under two states, with eyes open and closed.Secondly, this paper used the theory of power spectral density. Transverse could be divided into three frequency sections,(0.02 ~ 0.2 Hz),(0.2 ~ 2 Hz) and(2 ~ 10 Hz). This paper studied the elderly group and young each frequency distribution respectively, calculated the percentage of power spectrum, and comprehensive analyzed balance ability of elderly group and young group.Thirdly, This research combined the static balance with larger Lyapunov exponent in chaos theory of nonlinear time series analysis method, study the stability of human body static balance ability, analyzed visual, gender, and age effect on the stability of the balance. This study collected a large number of experimental data of young and elderly group, and extracted the features of their experimental data, respectively from two aspects of time domain and frequency domain analyzed and compared the similarities and differences among them. According to the analysis of experimental results shown balance ability differences forelderly group and young group in the different methods.
