Objective:To investigate the incidence of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy and its effect on the incidence of complications in pregnant women, perinatal infants and their neonatal infants. The effectiveness of regular therapy was analyzed for providing theoretical guidance for the scientific diagnosis, gestational management and prognosis improving of ICP.Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 6182 cases of pregnant women who had been admitted and delivering in obstetric and gynecologic department in the Zhejiang Province People’s Hospital from January 2010 to December 2012. There were 189 cases of pregnant women with ICP among them. We divided them into two groups according to whether they were treated regularly or not. There were 128 cases in regular group (group A) and 61 cases in irregular group (group B).100 cases were selected randomly as control group who had been admitted at the same time (group C). The incidence of the complications of pregnancy, perinatal infants and neonatal infants were compared with control group and analyzed statistically.Results:1. The incidence of ICP was 3.06% during past 3 years, it presented increasing tendency. The comparison of the prevalence of each year had no statistically significant difference (P>0.05); 2.The gestational weeks of delivery in group A were higher than those in group B, the differences had significant significance (P<0.05).while in group B were lower than those in group C; 3. The rate of cesarean section, assisted vaginal delivery, postpartum hemorrhage in group A were 43.75%,5.47% and 0.078% while those in group B were 85.25%,13.11% and 0.656% respectively. However, the amount of postpartum hemorrhage had no significant significance among three groups (P=0.541).4.The rate of premature delivery, fetal distress, aspiration pneumonia and amniotic fluid meconium contamination in group A were lower than those in group B (P<0.05), however fetal mortality was excluded (P>0.05).Conclusion:The prevalence of ICP gradually increased in the past three years. The rates of cesarean section, assisted vaginal delivery, postpartum haemorrhage increased in pregnant women with ICP. Severity of patient’s condition, incidence of neonatal complications, postpartum haemorrhage were decreased effectively after regular therapy although bleeding volume cannot be reduced. The regular therapy in pregnant women with ICP should be actively. In view of the negative effects of ICP on mother and fetus, pregnant women should be positive screening.
