Objective:To observe anti-inflammatory effect of the moxibustion on experimental rheumatoid arthritis (RA) model,our research concentrate on the macrophages as the breakthrough point,to explore the anti-inflammatory mechanism of the moxibustion on RA.Methods:Thirty Japanese big ear rabbits,male and female each of half,were randomly divided into blank control group,RA model group and moxibustion treatment group.ach group of ten rats.Just injectd the Freund’s complete adjuvant(FCA) into the joint cavity of two hind legs of model group and moxibustion groups by 0.5ml/Kg,sterile saline were injectd in blank control group with the same methods. In the 8 days after the building began to treat moxibustion treatment group with moxibustion,applied to Japanese big ear rabbit "shen shu","zu san li",1 times a day,6 days for a course of treatment,a total of three courses,one day rest between treatments.Observed rabbit’s overall state, knee circumference,synovial tissue inflammation pathological and number of macrophages;Detected Macrophage apoptosis rate content of synovial tissue with TUNEL-POD;Detected MIFmRNA content of synovial tissue with RT-PCR.Results:1. Moxibustion on "shenshu","zusanli" of experimental RA rabbit can significantly improve the general condition of RA, knee swelling and synovial tissue inflammation pathological;test on number of macrophages of synovial tissue showed that:Compared with blank control group,number of macrophages of model group were significantly higher (P<0.01),compared with the model group,number of macrophages of moxibustion group were significantly lower (P<0.05).2.Test on macrophage apoptosis rate of synovial tissue showed that:Compared with blank control group,macrophage apoptosis rate of model group were significantly lower (P<0.01),compared with the model group,macrophage apoptosis rate of moxibustion group were significantly higher (P<0.01);test on MIFmRNA of synovial tissue showed that:compared with blank control group,MIFmRNA of model group were significantly higher (P< 0.01),compared with the model group, MIFmRNA of moxibustion group were lower(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Moxibustion on "shenshu","zusanli" can significantly improve the general condition of experimental rabbits with RA,knee swelling and synovial tissue inflammation pathological;reduce number of macrophages content of synovial tissue.2.Moxibustion on "shenshu","zusanli" can enhance Macrophage apoptosis rate and reduce gene expression of MIF in experimental rabbits of RA synovial tissue,which maybe closely associated with the anti-inflammatory effects of moxibustion treatment of RA.
