Objective:To investigate risk factors of perineural/vascular invasion and its prognosis effect for CRC patients. Methods:A total of 226 patients with CRC who received radical surgery in the Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 1st 2010 to December 31 st 2011 were retrospectively analyzed. All CRC patients above were diagnosed by postoperative pathology and immunohistochemistry test. They were divided into perineural/vascular invasion group(PVG, 42 cases) and non-perineural/vascular invasion group(nPVG, 184 cases). The clinical pathological characteristics and prognosis of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Results:Univariate analysis showed that tumor size, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis and TNM staging were closely correlated with perineural/vascular invasion of CRC(all P<0.05). Multiple logistic regression analysis demonstrated that tumor size and depth of invasion were correlated with perineural/vascular invasion of CRC(all P<0.05).Univariate analysis of Kaplan-Meier method showed that age, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, TNM staging and the perineural/vascular invasion were associated with CRC patients’ 3-year overall survival(OS)(all P<0.01). The overall survival(OS) were54.5%, 84.7% and the difference was statistically significant(2c =12.806, P<0.001); 3years disease-free survival(DFS) were 42.3% and 73.7% and the difference was statistically significant(2c =13.629, P<0.001).Cox regression analysis indicated that depth of invasion, perineural/vascular invasion were correlated with CRC patients’ 3-year OS(all P<0.05). Conclusion:Tumor size and depth of invasion were the independent risk factors of perineural/vascular invasion in patients with CRC. Depth of invasion,perineural/vascular invasion were the independent prognostic factors for the prognosis of CRC.
