Objective:To Investigate the relationship among depression, executive function and rumination in patients with chronic depression.Methods:103 patients with chronic depression were investigated by a self-reported demographic questionnaire, behavior rating inventory of executive function-Adult version(BRIEF-A), ruminative responses scale(RRS),Beck depression inventory-Ⅱ(BDI-Ⅱ).Results:1. The average score of BDI-Ⅱ in patients with chronic depression is 25.12±12.85, the score of two subscales, somatic-affective and cognitive, is 16.07±7.81 and 9.04±5.79, respectively. The average score of in patients is 48.84±15.46, the score of three scales, symptom rumination, brooding and reflective pondering is 26.27±8.76,12.11±3.96 and 10.46±3.78, respectively. In BRIEF-A, the score of GEC is 119.40±28.55, the score of behavioral regulation index is 52.06±12.47 and the score of metacognition index is 67.34±17.18.2. The level of depression score has statistics difference in different education level and family economic conditions. The total score of BDI-II and the score of metacognition index have statistics difference in different education level(P< 0.05); the total score of BDI-II and the score of two subscales have statistics difference in different family economic conditions (P<0.001).3. The level of rumination has statistics difference in different education level, family economic conditions and medication. The total score of RRS and the score of symptom rumination and brooding have statistics difference in different education level(P<0.05); the total score of RRS and the score of brooding and reflective pondering have statistics difference in different family economic conditions (P<0.05); the total score of RRS and the score of all the three subscales have statistics difference in different medication(P<0.05).4. The total score of BRIEF-A and the score of all of the subscales have statistics difference in different sex, residence, education level, family economic conditions, history of suicide and operating condition(P<0.05).5. Results RRS and BRIEF-A scoresare significantly higher in BDI-II high-score group than the low(P<0.05), indicating the higher the depression are, the higher the rumination, and the lower the executive function.Conclusions:1. The level of depression, rumination and executive function have statistics difference in patients with chronic depression of different demographic characteristics.2. Depression has a positive correlation with rumination and executive dyfunction. Rumination has a positive correlation with executive dyfunction.3. Rumination is a partial mediator between the relation of depression and executive function.
