Traditional Chinese medicine extract is a complex mixture system, of which mechanism is unclear. It is hardly to deeply understand the interactions between herbal extract and their action targets, since these interactions are affected by the combined effect among the complex compositions in herbal extract and their targets. It has already become one of the core issues of modern medicine area to descript and evaluate its biological activity. Meanwhile it can promote the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine and it is a significant way to move toward world. Beginning with the comprehensive application of network pharmacology and integrated application chromatography and statistics, this study meant to explore specific efficacy of interaction of abstract information characterization in compound by the a-glucosidase inhibition from Terminalia chebula Retz.. It can make up a new train of thought and vision. The network pharmacology research, integrating molecular forecasts, projections, disease targets network analysis and drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) screening technologies, developing into a systematical platform of mechanism study of pharmacological targets and traditional Chinese herbs. The combination of mathematical model construction and compounds effectiveness was also a synthetic application in this study. Chromatography data (λ=254nm) of representative samples and their activities of a-glucosidase inhibition (PNPG) were collected. The stepwise regression mathematical equation between ingredient (independent variable) and activity (dependent variable) was establishedThe results revealed that sixty compounds from Terminalia chebula Retz. extracts can be divided into these types,18 for "OB> 30",32 for "DL> 0.18", and potential targeted four compounds are ellagic acid, luteolin, chebulic acid and quercetin which for "OB> 30 & DL> 0.18". The 55 characteristic peaks of Terminalia chebula Retz. samples were detected in ethanol extraction and HPLC separating process. We found a new linear correlation between ingredients (Vi, i=1,2……29) and activities (W). The mathematical equation was:W=V7× (-0.034±0.013)+V18×(-0.155±0.051)+V29 ×(-0.142±0.028)+V4×(0.079±0.020) +V11 ×(0.074±0.028)+V36 ×(-0.117±0.053)+85.669±4.476, with the high correlation coefficient (R=0.854) and significant difference(sig.=0.037). The steadiness of model was favorable with new digital information. No.4,7,11,18,29,36, represents corresponding peaks and single extract which were well suitable for the correlation equation mentioned above. This result indicated the relationship between function compounds of Terminalia chebula Retz. extracts and diabetes mellitus targets. This study may established a normal model for determining the relationship between components extraction from traditional Chinese medicines and clinical effects, and also can be applied on scientization and modernization of research of traditional Chinese medicine.
